Dominican track and field continued to push forward towards the postseason as it competed in the Payton Jordan Invitational and the Fresno State Invite on Saturday.
Adrian Aguirre headlined the day as he began to push back towards his personal best in Fresno as the national championships draw closer. Aguirre won the 110m hurdles with a season best time of 13.85 to move up to No. 11 in NCAA Division II.
Jalydon Love followed up on his fantastic PacWest Championship performance as he finished second in the 400 with a time of 47.96.
LaNicia Ellis wrapped up the track competitors in Fresno placing eighth in the 400 as she edged out runners from Sacramento State and Cal State Bakersfield with a time of 57.09.Â
Christian Alves was the lone field competitor for the Penguins at the event as he finished fifth in discuss with a throw of 39.93 meters, the second-best mark of all Division II competitors. Alves added a 12th place finish in the hammer with a toss of 44.05 meters.

Sarah Chavez headlined the Penguin performances as she faced a field full of NCAA Division I athletes in the 800 as she set a new school record and finished seventh in her section with a time of 2:15.72.
Diego Montag came out on top of his section in the men's 800 finishing with a time of 1:57.19, while
Tatyana Robles was fourth in her group with a time of 2:21.22. Robert Dawson rounded out the Penguin participants running the 5000 meter in 15:16.29.
Dominican will have one final weekend to book qualifying performances for the national championships as it heads south for the APU Last Chance Invite beginning Thursday and the CSULA Very Very Last Chance on Sunday, May 10.
