DUPONT, Wash. – Mikael Khursheed posted a pair of even-par rounds to earn a top-10 finish as Dominican men's golf placed sixth at the weather-shortened SMU Bishop Invitational on Saturday at The Home Course.

Heavy rain forced the cancellation of the tournament's opening round Friday, but the field was able to salvage one full round later in the day before returning to sunny and cool conditions for Saturday's final 18. Dominican posted rounds of 296 and 291 to finish the 36-hole event at 11-over-par 587. Cal State San Marcos captured the team championship at 8 under, finishing seven strokes ahead of runner-up Colorado Christian. Dominican finished sixth and ahead of all three PacWest opponents in the field, topping Hawai'i Hilo by seven strokes, Jessup by nine and Hawai'i Pacific by 18.

Khursheed provided the most consistent performance for the Penguins, carding matching even-par 72s to finish tied for ninth at 144. His two steady rounds left him four strokes behind individual champion Bradley Mulder of Colorado Christian, who finished at 4-under 140. Ayden Stack improved two strokes Saturday, following an opening 74 with an even-par 72 to finish tied for 18th at 2-over 146. Carson Sorci made an even larger move in the final round, trimming four strokes from his Friday score with a 72 to finish tied for 34th at 4-over 148.

Jerred Scott also improved on the second day, following a 76 with a 75 to finish tied for 48th at 7 over par. Joseph Berggren rounded out Dominican's lineup in 65th at 11 over after rounds of 74 and 81. The Penguins collectively cut five strokes from their opening-round score Saturday, with each of the top three shooting even-par 72 in the final round as Dominican closed the event with a 3-over 291.

The Penguins will have a short turnaround as it remains in the Pacific Northwest for the Western Washington Men's Invitational, teeing off Monday morning at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Washington.
