STOCKTON, Calif. – Dominican men's golf concluded its season with a 20th place finish at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
Western Washington won the team title with an 8 under par, with West Texas A&M close behind in second by three strokes. It was not the best of tournaments for the Penguins who finished at 48 over par in what was the first postseason appearance for any current golfer on the team.
Daniel Marmorstein was nails for the Penguins through the first two rounds as he had three birdies and 13 pars in his first round to finish with a 71. He caught fire to end the second round as he eagled 16 and followed up with a birdie on 17 to move to 3-under 69 on the round and move into the top 10. Marmorstein got off to a solid start in his final round with eight pars on the front nine, but struggled down the stretch finishing the tournament at 4 over tied for 46th.
Jonathan Chen was consistent throughout the tournament for Dominican with two rounds of 75 with a 76 in between as he tied for 82nd overall at 10 over par.
Jack Gladys opened with rounds of 5 over and 4 over but also stumbled late to finish 101st at 18 over for the tournament.
Jerred Scott was one stroke behind him after rounds of 78, 80 and 77 to place 102nd.
Carson Sorci shrugged off an opening 81 to post back-to-back rounds of 7-over 79 to round out the team at 23 over and place 103rd overall.
