STOCKTON, Calif.- Dominican men's golf team traveled down south competing in the Visit Stockton Invitational which took place at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
Jonathan Chen,
Daniel Marmorstein,
Carson Sorci,
Jerred Scott, and
Joseph Berggren all competed in this two-day invitational.
ROUND 1
Chen, the freshman out of Carmel, had himself quite the opening round pacing all players finishing first overall with a score of 4-under 72. Chen was locked in on the front nine collecting four birdies, and two of them came on long par fives. Fellow teammate Marmorstein also caught the hot hand in round one finishing 2-under where he picked up four birdies along the way. The duo of Chen and
Marmorstein helped the black and gold secure a tied for second placing after day one. Sorci would round out the top scorers for the Pengs in round one showing some strength with the three par fives. The Bakersfield native would finish the day 1-under on the par fives.
ROUND 2
In day two for the black and gold it was once again Chen and Marmorstein leading the way. Chen picked up par on every hole except one on the front nine, then on the back he collected four birdies to give him even par for round two. He would finish the tournament tied for 2
nd shooting 4-under.
Marmorstein, the senior leader out of Agoura Hills, wrapped up day two by shooting a 71 coming in with seven birdies on the day. This was good enough for a top 10 finish as he finished tied for 7
th. Dominican would wrap up the tournament placing in the top 10.Â
The Penguins will be back on the course in the Tim Tierney Shootout March 9-10th.Â
