CARMEL, Calif. – Dominican women's golf finished second at the RCA Electric Invitational in its first 54-hole tournament of the fall at The Quail Golf Club.
Hawai'i Pacific won the team title at 43 over par with the Penguins finishing at 73 over. Cal Lutheran was third at 94 over while Menlo and Jessup took fourth and fifth respectively.
Cristen Faith Legaspi led Dominican throughout as a birdie on one to open the tournament propelled her to a even par 70 in the opening round. Playing her second round on Monday, Legaspi slowed some as she posted a 5 over with two birdies, the second lowest score for the Penguins in the round. Legaspi ended on top leading Dominican once again with 6-over 77 after another fantastic start on the front nine with seven pars as she went on to finish fourth on the individual leaderboard at 11 over par.
Jenny Lee started slow with a 77 in the opening round before leading the team with three birdies in the second round on her way to a 4-over 75 to move into the top 10. Lee capped off her tournament with an 80 to finish ninth overall at 19 over par.
Ellexis Mingming got off to a strong start to her week as she amassed 15 pars and a birdie in the first round to finish the round at 2-over 73. Mingming added rounds of 81 and 84 over her final two rounds to finish tied for 11th at 25 over par.
Faith Guevara had the opposite tournament seeing improvement in each round as she started with an 81 before beginning a move up the leaderboard as she posed an 80 in the second round and then a 6-over 77 to move up five spots into a tie with Mingming at 25 over par.
Avery Kratz opened the tournament with a 1 under on the front nine with a pair of birdies as she posted a 4-over 75. Kratz posted an 81 in the second round before finishing her tournament with an 83 to finish a stroke behind her teammates in a tie for 13th at 26 over.
Madi Whitney competed as an individual finishing 15th overall at 27 over par after rounds of 76, 84 and 80.
Dominican will return to the course Sunday as it takes on Jessup at Grizzly Ranch Golf Club.
