ALAMEDA, Calif.- Dominican women's golf didn't have to travel too far for their two-day tournament competing in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay. This event was held at nearby Corica Park Golf Course.

ROUND 1
Junior captain Ellexis Mingming and sophomore Avery Kraatz led the way for the black and gold in the opening round both shooting a 75 which was good enough for 27^th. MingMing, the Walnut Creek native collected 13 pars on the afternoon while Kraatz highlight of the day came on the 14^th hole. After a beautiful tee shot that drove the green, Kraatz showed off her smooth looking putt stroke to secure the eagle.

Madi Whitney was right behind her Penguin teammates finishing the first round with a score of 76. Whitney, the Sacramento native, posted five birdies with her last one coming on a long par five on the 15^th hole. Cristen Faith Legaspi rounded out the top scorers for Dominican as she finished the opening round with 14 pars.

ROUND 2

Whitney woke up for round two ready to attack, and she did just that. The sophomore out of Sacramento shot her career low of 68 tallying six birdies on the day. Her driver was on point today hitting all fairways and scoring 2-under on the three par fives. This 68 in round two shot her up 29 spots from day one finishing the tournament in 10^th.

Mingming and Kraatz finished round two collecting a combined 21 pars and would finish 28^th and 41^st. Newcomer Jacie Johnson continues to make strides out on the course as she moved up three spots to close out the tournament.

The Lady Pengs will compete next in the Menlo Spring Invitational March 5-6^th.
