NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Consistency was key as Dominican women's golf finished third Wednesday at the PacWest Championships at Aliante Golf Club.

University of Hawai'i at Hilo won the team title at 31 over with No. 30 Point Loma close behind at 33 over. The Penguins used a consistent first two rounds of 11 over, 10 over to build a big lead over all but the top two as the rest of the field experienced more volatility. Madi Whitney and Ellexis Mingming led Dominican individually as they tied for 12th place at 12 over while Avery Kraatz was one stroke behind them in 14th at 13 over par. 

There were new stars each day for Dominican as the grouping of scores remained tight. Whitney and Avery Kraatz led the way in the opening round as Kraatz finished with four birdies and Whitney with 13 pars on their way to both posting a 1-over 73. Faith Guevara and Mingming added rounds of 75 and 78 as the Penguins finished the day in third, four strokes behind the lead. 

Cristen Faith Legaspi bounced back from a disappointing first round to lead Dominican on the second day as she posted four birdies and was even par over the front nine to move up 15 spots on the individual leaderboard after finishing the day at 1 over par. Mingming was right behind her with a 74 as she also finished with four birdies to move up four spots on the leaderboard. Whitney added a 75 with Guevara posting a 76 to push Dominican into a narrow two stroke lead heading into the final day. 

The Vulcans and Sea Lions were too good to hold off on the final day as they shot the two lowest rounds by any team over the 54-hole tournament. Legaspi and Mingming led the way once again as Legaspi finished with a 75 and Mingming was right behind her with a 76. Kraatz added a 79 with Whitney finishing with an 80 to round out the team scores.
