SEASIDE, Calif. – Dominican men's golf finished 15th Tuesday at the Otter Invitational after 54-holes and rainy conditions over two days at Bayonet Golf Course.
Western Washington took home the team title at 9 over par after a spectacular 9-under 279 helped them pull away from Colorado State Pueblo. The Penguins finished 67 over par to top Westmont by five strokes.
Daniel Marmorstein led the Penguins as he started strong with a 1-over 73 in the first round before the rain came pouring in during the second round slowing play for all teams and causing a darkness delay. Marmorstein finished his round strong on Tuesday morning as he entered the clubhouse with a 78 to move to 7 over par for the tournament. He rode the momentum from the end of his round into the final round of play as he opened with a birdie on 13 and added a second on hole 17 to move under par as he made the turn. Marmorstein eagled the par-4 second hole as the momentum of his round continued to build with two more birdies sprinkled in to cap off a 3-under 69 and push him up the leaderboard into a tie for ninth overall.
Jonathan Chen also saw his fortunes improve in the final round of the tournament as he followed rounds of 75 and 77 with a 1-over 73 on the back of five birdies to move into a tie for 26th.
