SOUTH JORDAN, Utah.- Dominican women's golf finished 6
th at the Title XI Invitational over the weekend in Utah. The Penguins were led by graduate student
Claire Shubin who finished the tournament tied for 5
th going 5-over par.
Senior
Angelica Antonio totaled four birdies in the tournament, and Shubin posted 34 pars throughout the tournament which ranked 7
th overall. Antonio started the tournament shooting 5-over par with two birdies on day one. Freshman
Faith Guevara and seniors
Phoebe Sundberg and
Lauren Parayno also collected a birdie on the first day.Â
Shubin led the Penguins on day two of the tournament. The Fresno native shot 2-over par while collecting two birdies on the day. Antonio posted two birdies for the second day in a row.
Monday marked the final day of the tournament, and Shubin's veteran presence was on display. The graduate student was consistent the whole day and shot another 2-over par. Shubin sank two birdies with an impressive birdie on a long par 5 on the front nine.
Parayno had a solid day with two birdies and ended day three shooting 7-over par. Antonio was one shot behind her teammate going for 8-over par on the last day which was good enough to finish the tournament tied for 13
th.
Dominican will compete in the Sonoma State Fall Invitational Oct. 1-2
