Faith Guevara begins a tee shot

Penguins battle weather to place sixth

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Dominican women's golf finished sixth in the 11 team field at the 2025 Westminster Wasatch Invitational to open the fall segment of its season at Glenmoor Golf Club.

Westminster won the tournament at 34 over par to edge Westmont by a single stroke. The Penguins finished at 57 over topping teams from Colorado Mesa, Menlo, Jessup and Vanguard.

Dominican experienced some up and down play in the tournament with weather conditions bringing challenges each day. Newcomer Avery Kraatz led the way in the first round after opening at 1 under on the front nine with a pair of birdies. Kraatz went on to finish the round tied for 11th at 4 over par. Inclement conditions did not favor her play in the second round as she finished with a 10 over as she dropped into a tie for 26th at 14 over par. Tied with her was teammate Faith Guevara who got off to a slow start in the opening round with an 81, but found more success in round two as she finished with 13 pars on her way to a five over to move up the leaderboard.

Christen Faith Legaspi was the most consistent player over the weekend as she posted back-to-back rounds of 6-over 78 to finish 23rd overall at 12 over par. Jenny Lee equaled Legaspi in the first round opening with a birdie on her way to a 78, but fell into 39th overall at 19 over par after shooting a 13 over in the second round. Ellexis Mingming posted rounds of 79 and 86 to tie for 41st at 21 over par to round out the squad.

Dominican will return to California for the Menlo Fall Invite beginning Monday at The Quail Golf Club.
