Schrodt leads Penguins to top-5 finish

DUPONT, Calif. – Junior Christian Schrodt led Dominican men's golf to a tie for fourth Saturday at the Saint Martin's Men's Invite at The Home Course.

Western Washington won the tournament shooting a 14 under par with Simon Fraser taking second at 2 under par. Lewis-Clark State was third at 8 over with the Penguins and Hawaii Pacific tied in fourth at 20 over par in the 12 team field.

Schrodt got off to an extremely strong start following an opening round of 1-under 71 with five birdies and no bogeys in the second round to finish the first day in second at 6 under par. He finished off with a solid 1-over 73 to finish in fourth overall. Graduate senior Matt Fry tied for 21st after finishing strong with a 1-under 71 on Saturday to move to 5 over par for the tournament.

Senior Christopher Steib and junior Derek Hamilton both tied at 10 over par to take 37th, while freshman Sean Buckles rounded out the team at 21 over par to take 60th.

Dominican will return to action Monday, October 11 at the Wildcat Classic at Rolling Hills in Corning, California.
