SEASIDE, Calif. – Dominican men's golf moved up two spots in the final round of competition at the Otter Invitational to tie for 11th Friday at Bayonet Golf Course.

Cal State San Bernardino won the team title at 25 over par with University of Colorado Colorado Springs moving up four spots and finishing one stroke behind the Coyotes. The Penguins moved up two spots on the final day to tie Cal State Dominguez Hills and Colorado School of Mines at 71 over par while passing rival Academy of Art who finished 14th at 79 over par. 

Matt Fry led Dominican at the tournament after opening and closing the tournament with rounds of 3-over 75, the lowest score of the tournament among Penguin participants. Fry moved up eight spots on the final day tying for 27th thanks to a birdie and a par to finish his day at 13 over par for the tournament.

Christian Schrodt tied Fry for the lowest round of the day for Dominican at 3 over par as he shot par on five holes and finished with a birdie to move up 10 spots on the individual board and tie for 47th at 17 over par. Christopher Steib had back-to-back rounds of 4-over 76 to finish his tournament as he moved up nine spots to tie for 57th at 21 over par.

Derek Hamilton remained relatively consistent through all three rounds as he finished at 25 over par to tie for 73rd, while Elliott Nielsen finished with a 32 over par to tie for 82nd in the field of 91 golfers.

Dominican will return to action at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational beginning Monday, February 14 at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista, California.
