Aguirre leads Penguins at Wildcat Invitational

CHICO, Calif. – Adrian Aguirre set a personal best as he led Dominican track & field at the 2025 Wildcat Invitational on Saturday at University Stadium.

The Penguin men finished with 45 points to take fourth overall while the women had 22 points to finish eighth. Chico State won its home invite with 387.5 and 326 points respectively for the men and women.

Aguirre picked up where he left off last year and then some as he flew by the entire field in the 110m hurdles to finish with a new personal record 13.84 second while also earning 10 points for his team. The Wildcats' Donovan Marshall was second in the event but had a good look at Aguirre's back as he was nearly a full second behind him with a time of 14.82 seconds in the finals. Aguirre's time currently ranks No. 2 in the NCAA Division II.

The two combined to add seven points to the team total. Gutierrez earned four more points with another personal best in the 440m as he edged out Jamie Saunders of Cal Poly Humboldt for sixth with a time of 50.53 seconds.

Sienna Fassett set a new school record in the pole vault with a mark of 2.61m to take seventh overall and give Dominican three points on the women's side. Several others set personal records on the day such as Bella Bueno in the 1500m with a time of 4:59.28, Jeroam Wood-Pina with a throw of 38.97m in the javelin, Gabe Sanchez with a throw of 27.39m in the discus and Michael Gonzalez Lopez with a throw of 10.19m in the shot put.
