SACREMENTO, Calif. – Dominican men's and women's track and field traveled up north this weekend to compete in the Hornet Invitational this weekend at Sacramento State University. In the track events on the men's side, junior
Adrian Aguirre was the standout in the 110M hurdles sweeping the competition coming in first with a time of 13.96.
On the flip side, fellow junior
LaNicia Ellis came in fourth in her section in the women's 400M with a time of 59.01. Teammate
Sarah Chavez continued the success for the Pengs in the women's 400M posting a first-place finish in her section with a time of 1:02:44.
Aguirre was the standout for the Pengs in the field events, but teammate Worthy Guiterrez made some noise in the men's 400M running a 50.10 which was good enough to see him on the podium coming in third place for his section. Speaking of a podium finish, freshman
Diego Montag who has had a solid start to his collegiate career finished third in the 1500M in his section with a time of 4:07:13.
Andrew Reinhard,
Gabe Sanchez, and Jeroam Wood-Pina had a solid outing in the field events with Reinhard posting a distance of 9.36m in the shot put. Sanchez finished with a discus throw of 25.09m while Wood-Pina got a chance to showcase his javelin abilities with a distance of 34.30m.
On the women's side, Ellis placed fourth in the women's 400M and senior
Bella Bueno beat out a couple of Division I runners to place seventh in the women's 1500M with a time of 4:52.24.
Both teams will be back in action March 29
th at the Fresno State West Coast Relays.
