FRESNO, Calif. – A pair of newcomers,
Diego Montag and
Miranda Lam, led Dominican cross country at the Seawolf Invitational to open the season at Woodward Park.
The women were the first to take the course on a hot morning in central California.

Sarah Chavez for most of the race with Lam finishing first among the Penguin women with a time of 23:04.05 to place 53rd overall. Chavez was right behind her in 54th with a time of 23:20.18.
Karsyn Walton pushed through the heat to finishing 67th with a time of 27:37.67.
On the men's side,
Diego Montag ran through the heat in his first race for Dominican to finish 33rd overall with a time of 23:02.22 kicking past runners from Orange Coast and Cal State LA. Jeroam Wood-Piña was the next to cross the finish line with a time of 24:23.85 to take 55th overall. Daniel Salmeron Romo finished 78th with a time of 27:52.26 topping a runner from Simpson. Starlight (José) Lain-Straus rounded out the team with an 85th place finish with a time of 40:23.90.
Dominican will compete next at the Kim Duyst Twilight hosted by Stanislaus State on Saturday at River Oaks Golf Course.
