Penguins hire Josh Ault

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican golf announced the hiring of Josh Ault as its new head coach Monday.

"I am excited to have Coach Ault and his wife Janel join the Penguin Team," athletics director Amy Henkelman said. "Josh brings with him a super competitive nature, and a love for the game. Coach Ault's focus is on the student-athletes experience, growth and development as individuals that fits into the University and departments mission and core values. We look forward to having Coach Ault lead our Penguins."

Ault comes to San Rafael with eight years of experience coaching collegiate golf. The past three years he served at the helm of Westmont College where he coached four individual tournament winners. Ault transformed the Warriors golf program with an emphasis on a strong community and culture.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the athletic department at Dominican University of California," Ault said. "I want to thank Amy Henkelman for trusting me with stewarding the Men's and Women's golf teams. I believe in coaching the whole person, not just the golfer. From the moment I arrived on campus for my interview I could feel a calm strength throughout this athletic department.  I can't wait to get started and work with the student-athletes."

Prior to coaching at Westmont College, Ault spent five seasons as the head coach at Providence Christian College. He started the golf program during the 2016-17 season and led the men's team to the NCCAA National Championship in 2018. Ault also served as the sports information director for one year during his time with the Sea Beggars.

Ault started his collegiate coaching career at Occidental College. He is also an elite amateur golfer, winning the Amateurgolf.com Callaway Winter Invite.
