Dominican track and field competed in two separate parts of the Bay Area in the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic with several personal bests Friday and Saturday.

Wakilli Bennett continued his impressive senior season as he once again topped his personal bests in both the 100m and 200m dash at the Stanford Invitational among stiff Division I competition. Bennett opened his weekend setting a personal best of 10.34 in the 100m prelims to advance to the finals. He then took the track for the 200m and set another personal record this time by a tenth of a second with a time of 21.09 as he finished third overall beating runners from Stanford, Cal and UCLA in the process. He returned Saturday to Cobb Track and added a fourth-place finish with a 10.40 finishing a hair behind Mason Lawyer of Washington State but beating runners from Cal Poly, San Jose State and Stanford among the field of mostly NCAA Division I competitors.
Adrian Taylor was the only other athlete to compete at the Stanford Invitational as he set a personal best in the 400m with a time of 49.34 to place 26th in the field of 45 and defeating runners from Montana State, Chico State and Cal Poly.

On the other side of the Bay,
Andrew Reinhard got the Penguins off to a strong start in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic as his final throw of 44.09 meters pushed him into second place in the javelin.
Sarah Chavez continued the trend of personal bests on the track as she finished with a time of 2:30.01 in the 800m to pass Breanna Herrera for fourth on Dominican's program record board in the event.
Stefan Mueller had a season best on the men's side of the 800m as he crossed the finish line in 1:59.46.

The meet continued late into the night and the Penguins proved nocturnal as
Logan McNamar and
Courtney Santos set personal bests once again, this time in the 10,000m. Santos became the first runner from Dominican to compete in the event and finished in 39:38.50 to defeat Keira Coye of Biola and record the fourth best time in the PacWest this season. McNamar capped off the weekend finishing in 30:42.17 as he jumped into second on Dominican's all-time record board trailing only
Jared Wright while also posting the top time in the PacWest this season.

The Penguins will compete next at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Saturday at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley.
