TURLOCK, Calif. – Dominican track and field saw more personal bests and school records as they competed at the Kim Duyst Invitational at Warrior Stadium.
The Penguin men finished in sixth among the 16 team field with 31 points while the women's team finished with 22 points to place ninth in a field of 15.
Andrew Reinhard made a big jump with his final throw of the day in javelin as it sailed 52.14 meters pushing him into fourth place and earning his team five points. The throw was over six meters longer than his mark of 45.9 meters set at last week's Chabot opener.
Caytlin Capulong and
Emma Wuelfing earned team points as well in the javelin. Capulong's throw of 29.37 meters landed her in sixth place netting four points. Wuelfing was right behind her with a throw of 28.79 meters, a personal best, to earn three points.
Adrian Aguirre was the highlight of the track portion for the second week in a row as he outraced the entire field in the 110m hurdles. Aguirre was .4 seconds ahead of second place as he crossed the finish line in 14.38 seconds netting 10 points for the Penguins.
Bella Bueno made it two weeks in a row with personal bests in the 800m as she finished in 2:25.21 to place fifth overall and give the women 4 points.
Courtney Santos and
Logan McNamar each made it three weeks in a row with a personal best this week in the 5000m. Santos took fifth in her heat with a time of 19:27.44 while
Logan McNamar placed 11th with a time of 15:02.78.
LaNicia Ellis finished ninth in the 200m race as she outstretched Gabriela Perez of Monterey Peninsula at the finish line with a time of 26.32.
Wakilli Bennett continued to improve on his 100m time on the season as crossed the finish line in 10.55, missing the first place time by 0.2 seconds. The men's 4x400 team of
Jaylen Allen,
Connor Chan,
Javier Machado and
Stefan Mueller rounded out the meet as they set a new program record with a time of 3:34.21 to place fourth overall and earn six points.
Dominican will compete next at the Aggie Open hosted by UC Davis on Saturday at Woody Wilson Track in Davis, California.
