Dominican University of California athletics is pleased to announce that men's lacrosse has accepted their invitation to officially join the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
"After many years patiently waiting for Men's Lacrosse to grow in the West, we are beginning to see momentum," said RMAC commissioner Chris Graham. "We welcome Dominican and are thankful for their investment into men's lacrosse and the RMAC. This places our league on a path for greater stability while positioning our members for, potentially, automatic qualification into the national tournament".
The Penguins have been competing in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) at the club level since 2015. This past June, Dominican athletics announced both lacrosse teams had been elevated into the NCAA Division II. The women's team will compete independently facing off against many RMAC schools this year, and hope to join the conference in the near future.
Dominican will return 28 players from last season with offensive production led by junior
Kenny Seiler who finished this past season with 30 goals and 23 assists and senior
Brennan Krebs scoring 26 goals to go with 14 assists. Senior long-stick midfielder
Noah Gibson also returns after being named Honorable Mention MCLA All-America after leading the team with 68 ground balls. Dominican will also return three players with game experience in the net in
Brandon Stuckey,
Tristan Hunter and
Matt Padilla.
"Dominican University of California is extremely excited and very grateful to be joining the RMAC as an affiliate member for Men's Lacrosse," Dominican Athletics Director Amy Henkelman said. "We look forward to competing and collaboratively growing the sport on the west coast specifically in NCAA DII. It gives potential student-athletes the opportunity to stay on the west coast, get a great education and compete in the sport they love. Dominican sincerely appreciates the invitation and opportunity from the RMAC".
