GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Dominican men's lacrosse squared off against the No. 20 ranked Mavericks of Colorado Mesa Thursday night in the Peach Belt Rocky Mountain Division Championships semi-finals. In their first year back in Division II and in the RMAC conference the Penguins finished top four in the conference earning the right to play this week in the championships. The Mavericks showed why their ranked No. 20 as they came out victorious in this one 22-7.
Before these two teams squared off Thursday night, a couple of Penguins were named to the all-conference teams. Graduate student
Jason Eide and freshman
Chase Pacenta were named to the RMAC Second-Team All-Peach Belt Conference after having strong 2025 campaigns.
Speaking of Pacenta, the freshman out of Colorado, opened the game 50 seconds in as he called his own number scoring the first goal of the game. Pacenta would add another goal late in the first quarter collecting two on the night giving him 28 for the season making him the team leader.
Junior
Tanner Ennis who came into the ballgame second on the team in scoring added three more goals to his season total Thursday night against the Mavericks. Ennis's three goals on the night led the team with Pacenta and Eide right behind him in the scoring column. Freshman
Cadel Velazquez who has been effective in the midfield for Dominican led the team in ground balls with six while fellow teammate was right behind him with five on the night.
Dominican will look to learn from this season and grow with their young players heading into the 2026 season.
