The men's and women's cross-country team traveled down south to Fresno for the PacWest Championships Saturday afternoon.
On the men's side, they placed 6
th overall in the 8K with an average time per runner coming in at 27:13. Graduate student
Logan McNamar led the Penguins coming in at 18
th for the individual results with a time of 25:19:3 edging out his teammate
Jacob Potere who came in 19
th place with a time of 25:21:3.
Fellow graduate student
Stefan Mueller came in 42
nd crossing the finish line with a time of 26:45:3. Junior
David Fernandez pushed by Westmont's Ryan Daedler with a time of 28:02:01 to place 54
th.
Competing in his first PacWest Championships,
Javier Machado crossed the finish line at 30:33:6, and sophomore Starlight (José) Lain-Straus posted a time of 33:36:2.
Junior
Courtney Santos once again led the women's side finishing in 49
th posting a time of 24:16:3 just ahead of Point Loma's Aubree Gentry. Senior leader
Emma Wuelfing was second on the team posting a solid 25:18:8.
Sarah Chavez and
Jaqueline Hurtado rounded things out for the women's clocking in at 26:45:4 and 37:56:6.
Both teams will rest up and prep for the NCAA West Regionals in Oregon on Nov. 4
th.
