Penguins Compete in Santa Clara Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Dominican women's cross country team had one final tune up for the conference championships next week as they competed in the 2023 Santa Clara Bronco Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Junior Courtney Santos once again led the way for the Penguins in this one posting a time of 24:26.5 which was good enough for 79th. The Hanford native looks ready for the conference championships.

Senior Eryn Tufts edged out Pacific's Briteny Goriye with a time of 27:04.9 which was the second-best time for the Penguins. Sophomore Sarah Chavez crossed the finish line with a time of 27:49.7 narrowly beating out Cal Poly's Anna Wildt.

Freshman Jaqueline Hurtado and Nylah Lemus who were looking to gain positive momentum heading into their first PacWest Championships posted a time of 29:53.8 and 33:14.0.

Both the men's and women's cross-country teams will travel to Fresno next Saturday Oct. 21st to compete in the PacWest Championships.
