SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Dominican women's golf finished 10th at the Wasatch Invitational after the final round Tuesday at Glenmoor Golf Course.
Tampa took home the team title with a 27 over par while Colorado Christian was second at 43 over and Colorado Mesa in third at 58 over par. The Penguins edged out host team Westminster by a single stroke for the final spot in the top 10.
Claire Shubin started slow with back-to-back rounds of 5-over 77 but she had things rolling in the final round as back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 helped her make the turn at even par. She continued that pace in the front nine as she followed her two bogeys with a birdie each time to remain at even par and move up 10 spots into a tie for eighth. She was second among PacWest competitors to Madison Voisard of Biola who finished one stroke ahead of Shubin at 9 over to tie for sixth.
Angelica Antonio passed the Urban Knights' Nicole Yang in the final round of competition as she shot her second consecutive round of 6-over 78 to finish tied for 26th overall at 21 over par.
Alissa Salazar used a strong front nine with five pars in the final round to push her four spots up the individual leaderboard into a tie for 56th at 42 over par where she was tied with her teammate
Crystal Yi.
Kelsey Bas rounded out the team with a 57 over par to finish in 66th overall.
Dominican will have a few days off to prepare for its next tournament, the Sonoma State Fall Invitational beginning Monday at Valley of the Moon Club.
