Schrodt finishes strong in first Regional appearance

PUEBLO, Colo. – Christian Schrodt overcame a slow start to move up 36 spots over the final two rounds to finish tied for 32nd Saturday at the NCAA West/South Central Regional at Pueblo Country Club.

It was a difficult start for Schrodt in his first ever appearance at the regionals as he made the turn at 4 over par despite six pars, but Schrodt began to find his groove as he had back-to-back birdies on hole 11 and 12 to get his round back on track. He went on to shoot even par on the back nine ending the day in a tie for 68th at 4 over for the day.

Schrodt found much better success in his second round with a birdie on his opening hole adding two more on the front nine as he made the turn at even par. After a bogey on 10, it was clear sailing for Schrodt as he birdied a par 5 on his next hole before ending the round with six more pars and a birdie for a 1-under 70. The under-par score boosted him up 19 spots on the individual leaderboard as he finished the day tied for 49th.

Schrodt had much more in store for his final round as he opened on a tear with a flawless opening nine holes as he had three birdies and six pars to make the turn at 3-under. He added two more birdies on the back nine on his way to posting a 2-under 69 moving up another 17 spots into a tie for 32nd.
