STOCKTON, Calif. –
Claire Shubin finished her brilliant season in a tie for 29th Wednesday at the NCAA Division II West Regional at Brookside Country Club.
Shubin started strong at the tournament sitting at even par after a birdie on hole 12, but a pair of bogeys followed by a triple bogey put her off the leading pace. Shubin though rebounded with a par and a birdie to finish her first round at 4 over par and tie for 31st on the leaderboard.
Shubin found herself in the opposite situation in her second round as a bogey on her 12th hole of the day put her at four over par, but she would quickly change the course of her round. Shubin had a par on her next hole before reeling off three consecutive birdies as she finished the day with a 1-over 73 to move up 11 spots into a tie for 20th.
The final round started well for Shubin as she had a birdie on the opening hole and she added five more pars over the next six holes to sit at even par nearing the turn. The course got the better of her on the day as bogeys on the next three holes blunted her momentum and she finished the day at 5 over on the day and 10 over for the tournament.
