Dominican track and field competed all over the Bay Area this week beginning with the Chabot Invitational before making stops at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the Stanford Invitational.

Men's recap
Alexandre Bernier,
Louie Galdamez,
Kieran Vrklan and Shawn Verdote set a new program best in the 4x100 at the Chabot Invitational as they finished seventh with a time of 45.54 to earn the lone points of the week for the Penguins.

Jacob Potere led the Penguins at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic competing in the 10,000 meter with 30 other athletes in section 2. Potere finished in a time of 32:51.93 to take 19th in his section and now ranks 13th in the PacWest for the 2022 outdoor season.
Stefan Mueller finished second in his section of the 1500m topping runners from Cal Poly, Saint Mary's and Loyola Marymount with a time of 4:07.11, the second best time for the Penguins in the event this season.
Xavier Mendoza set a new personal best in the 5000m with a time of 15:54.36 to take sixth in his section.

Potere (1200m) and Mueller (800m) teamed up with
Connor Efstathiu (mile) and Esondre Chritian (400m) in the team's first ever distance medley relay. The group finished eighth in their section with a time of 11:57.49 to top Cal Poly's B squad who finished in 12:18.78.

Wakilli Bennett continued to impress as he set a new season best with a 10.778 in the 100 meter dash at the Stanford Invitational to place 15th at the highly competitive meet. It was the second fastest time among Division II competitors at the meet behind Academy of Art's Daquan Berry who finished 10th with a time of 10.71. Bennett also competed in the 200m and set another season best with a 22.52 a mark that would rank 10th among times in the PacWest coming into the week.

Women's recap
Claire Brown made her track debut for Dominican at the Chabot Invitational and set the team's second best time in the 100 meter dash as she crossed the line in 13.34 to finish ninth at the meet and with a mark that put her in 25th in the PacWest this season. Sofia Odron also made her debut in the 100m as she finished 15th with a time of 14.27.

Emma Wuelfing set a new program best in the long jump for Dominican with a jump of 4.46m, a mark that ranks 19th in the PacWest this season. Caitlyn Capulong also showed remarkable improvement as she competed for the second time this season in the javelin. Capulong threw a program-record 25.4 meters to place 18th overall at the meet. Capulong now ranks 15th in the PacWest in the event.

Autumn Jordan set a new program record in the discus with a throw of 21.18 meters to finish 25th at the Chabot Invitational. Capulong set her personal best in the event with a throw of 19.10 meters with
Gabrielle Wampler also setting a new personal record with a throw of 17.50 meters.

Dominican will compete next at the Cal State East Bay Invitational beginning Friday.
