SACRAMENTO, Calif. –
Morgan Semana won her section of the 100 meter dash in an exciting finish for Dominican track and field at the Hornet Invitational at Hornet Stadium.

Semana raced in section four of the women's 100 meter dash, competing against athletes from all different levels of the collegiate athletics. She got off to a good start and was able to cross the finish line .004 seconds ahead of Stevie Wu of the University of Hawaii in a time of 13.036.
Kiana Pelton posted a time of 13.82, .01 seconds behind another NCAA Division I athlete in Alex Machado from the University of the Pacific.

Caytlin Capulong took home the top spots in section six finishing in 13.88 and 14.06 respectively to top athletes from Holy Names University.
Emma Digman led the Penguins in long distance races finishing sixth in section three of the 1500 meter with a time of 5:21.28 with Isa Ferris in ninth with a time of 5:37.41 as both topped NCAA Division II athletes from Cal State Monterey Bay and Fresno Pacific. Digman also competed in the 800m as she beat out runners from William Jessup, College of the Redwoods and Holy Names. She posted a time of 2:37.91 to place ninth in section three.

Wakilli Bennett continued his string of impressive starts for Dominican as he narrowly missed out on earning a team point for the Penguins in the 100 meter dash, finishing .03 seconds behind DeVonn Johnson of Sacramento State. He finished with a time of 10.86, the top among NCAA Division II competitors with only NCAA Division I or junior college athletes ahead of him.
Alexandre Bernier took second in section eight with a time of 11.87 seconds for Dominican.
Jared Wright led the way for distance runners as he got off to a strong start running the first split of the 1500m in 59.550 and crossed the finish line in 2:01.71 to take 19th overall at the meet. Teammate
Stefan Mueller was right behind him with a time of 2:02.05 to finish 20th.
The Penguins will be busy next week as they compete in three different meets across the Bay Area beginning Thursday at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the Chabot Invitational. Athletes will also be competing at the Stanford Invitational beginning Friday.
