Marysville, CALIF. -- Dominican University of California men's golf placed 11th overall at the Chico State Wildcat Classic in Marysville, California on Tuesday.
The 3-day tournament began on Sunday with Dominican shooting a 297 on the day, a mark they would continually improve on as the tournament progressed. Day two saw the squad shoot a combined 295 as they saved the best for last with a 294 on the final day of the event.
Benjamin Gould led the way for the Penguins, going 1-under par on back-to-back days to help him earn a share of 19th overall in the 66 golfer field. Gould finished the tournament with a birdie and a pair of pars to keep him below par on the final day of the tournament. The junior saw his best round of golf come on day two of The Classic when he sank three birdies on the front-9 to help set the pace for the rest of the day.
Elliott Nielsen and
Josh Morris finished even with one another at +7, with
Sam Nielsen trailing close behind at +8. Sam Buckles and
Derek Hamilton finished on after another at +20 and +22, respectively.
