SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Dominican women's golf finished eighth Tuesday at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational to conclude its fall season at Valley of the Moon Club.
The Seawolves won their own tournament with back-to-back rounds of 22 over par to finish one stroke ahead of Cal State San Marcos. The Penguins finished at 65 over par, eight strokes behind Academy of Art and Western Washington tied for fourth and five strokes ahead of 10th place Cal State East Bay in the 14 team field.
Sophomore
Crystal Yi shot the lowest round of her Dominican career and the second-lowest of the entire tournament in the first round with a 1-over 73. Yi was fantastic on the front nine, shooting a 3 under with three birdies and no bogeys. She ended the tournament tied for 15th at 13 over par.
Junior
Claire Shubin had the third-lowest score inTuesday's second round with a 4-over 76 using 15 pars to move up 12 spots into a tie for 10th on the individual board at 11 over par. Sophomore
Phoebe Sundberg continued to impress in the fall as she shot a 6-over 78 to conclude the tournament and move up 22 spots into a tie for 38th at 20 over.
Sophomore
Lauren Parayno finished tied for 53rd at 26 over par, while junior
Ashley Pan rounded out the team tied for 66th at 30 over. Sophomore
Kelsey Bas competed as an individual at the invite as she tied for 73rd at 34 over in the field of 80 golfers.
Dominican will next compete at the 2022 Visit Stockton Invitational at Brookside Country Club beginning February 14.
