SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's golf team finished the 2016 campaign with the top GolfStat Freshman Class Impact Ranking in NCAA Division II.
The Penguins have been in the mix all season long and the growth of three freshmen —
Brandon Brame,
Jake Quast, and
Nick Rivera — gave the Penguins a relative strength of 500.452. The trio combined to average rounds of 74.64.
Notably, Rivera earned PacWest Men's Golfer of the Week honors in early April and shot an 8-under 64 in the third round of the 43rd Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, the lowest round of the tournament and a Dominican program record.
Quast and Rivera helped the Penguins to a third-place finish at the PacWest Championships and all three competed at the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regionals, where Dominican finished its season in 12th place.
