Drew Nelson has been named the 2014-15 PacWest Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Thursday. The awards recognize one student-athlete from each of the PacWest's 15 sponsored sports for their academic and athletic achievements during the year.
The honorees were selected in a vote by the PacWest sports information directors. Each of the winners are now eligible for the PacWest Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
In 2014-15, Nelson was an All-PacWest First Team, posted a 75.76 scoring average, tied seventh at the PacWest Championships, tied for third place at the RMAC #1, and helped the Penguins to a second-place finish at the PacWest Championships and to the program's first-ever NCAA Division II regional appearance.
