WAIPIO, Hawa'i — The Dominican University of California womens' tennis team was edged by Point Loma Nazarene University 5-3 in the seventh-place match on Saturday at the Pacific West Conference Championships hosted by Hawai'i Pacific University.
Dominican (7-14) dropped all three doubles matches, despite strong effors from junior
Irina Morozova in the No. 1 match, an 8-4 loss to Miaka Adair and Sharon Reibstein, and from freshman
Francesca Katafias and junior
Emily Prescott, who dropped an 8-6 decision at the No. 3 spot to Wileen Chiu and Kiersten Steinhauer.
Singles play was tight as well but Point Loma (5-16) prevailed before Marisa Frazer could secure a victory at No. 3 singles play. Morozova earned a victory at No. 1 singles play and Prescott defeated Chiu 6-1, 6-3 to take the No. 4 singles match.
