SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Forest Meadows Field played host to another exciting Pacific West Conference women's soccer game on Monday afternoon, with Dominican University of California victorious 2-1 in overtime over visiting Notre Dame de Namur University. It was Dominican's third straight win and marked the fifth straight match where the outcome has been decided by just one goal. The Lady Penguins are now 3-2 in that situation.

“This was our third overtime and it was nice to finally come out on top,” said Dominican Head Coach Jon Delano. “These last few games have put us in the right direction and we have momentum as we get further into conference play.”

Notre Dame de Namur (4-4-0/2-2-0) recorded the game's first goal at 17:45 when Samantha Paetz found Sarah Biser for the goal off a corner kick. Both teams went scoreless the next half hour of play until Michelle Mason found Julianna Bratsberg for the tying goal. It was third goal of the season for Bratsberg, who was named the PacWest Player of the Week earlier in the day.

Bratsberg had another chance in the 86th minute but her header was saved by NDNU's Kelsey Baxter. She had yet another chance to win the game in regulation but her team-high sixth shot in the 88th minute drifted wide.

Dominican (3-4-0/3-1-0) didn't need much more extra time though, and four minutes into the extra period Katie Brown chipped a ball from the right side and Alex Moran connected with the game-winning header off of the cross bar and straight down into the goal.

The Lady Penguins outshot the Argonauts 16-13 and took one more shot on goal. Dominican also held a 6-4 corner kick advantage.

Dominican goalie Megan Herring, who was named to last week's PacWest Women's Soccer Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll, made seven stops in 94:06 of play.

“These last few matches have been important for 'G' [Bratsberg] after having missed last season,” added Delano. “It was also great to see Alex [Moran] get a goal for herself after she got close in the first half.”

The Dominican women head to Belmont on Friday, October 1 for a rematch against Notre Dame de Namur. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.
