CERES, Calif. – Dominican cross country added six program top-20 marks Saturday night at the Kim Duyst XC Invitational, with
Jessica Carvalho and
Tatyana Robles leading the women in the 6K and
Louie Etta pacing the men in the 8K at River Oaks Golf Course.
Stanislaus State won the women's 6K with 22 points, while UC Santa Barbara took the men's 8K title with 41 points. Dominican placed seventh in the women's team standings with 185 points and ninth in the men's race with 257 points, finishing ahead of Jessup on the men's side.
Carvalho led the Dominican women for the second consecutive meet, placing 50th overall in 24:02.0 seconds. The freshman moved to No. 4 all-time at Dominican in the 6K, improving on the 24:31.8 she ran at the USF Invitational to open the season. Robles followed closely behind in 52nd place, crossing in 24:09.8 to move to No. 5 on the program's all-time 6K list.
Sarah Chavez also climbed the record book, finishing 57th in 24:45.4 to move to No. 10 all-time and give the Penguins three runners inside the program's top 10.
Sadie Choi was Dominican's fourth finisher, placing 60th in 25:28.4, while Madeline Beaton completed the Penguins' scoring five in 63rd at 27:50.3.
Ashlyn Ennis followed in 66th with a time of 28:42.5.
Etta delivered the top men's performance of the night for Dominican, placing 65th overall in 26:33.0. The sophomore improved his 8K personal best and moved to No. 9 in program history.
Dario Rodriguez added another top-20 program mark, crossing in 28:29.7 to improve on his season-opening 28:50.1 and move to No. 17 all-time at Dominican. Jeroam Wood-Piña followed in 93rd in 28:39.5, a time that moved him into the program's top 20 at No. 20.
Ishaan Iyer was Dominican's fourth finisher, placing 105th in 29:55.9, while
Emanuel Hurley completed the Penguins' scoring five in 107th at 30:02.4.
Isaac Robinson followed in 109th with a time of 30:51.9, and Casilla rounded out the Dominican finishers in 114th at 35:34.8.
Dominican will continue its season Friday at the St. Mary's Invite in Concord, California.
