SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – 
Adrian Aguirre highlighted the weekend for Dominican track and field as it competed at the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
Aguirre had a modest start at the Stanford Invitational as he took third in the 110m hurdle preliminaries to advance to Saturday's finals. He let himself loose in the finals setting a new personal and Penguin record topping the field with a finish of 13.83, his fifth victory in the event this season. Aguirre also boosted his rankings nationally as the finish puts him No. 5 nationally in NCAA Division II as the season enters its final month.
Jalydon Love was one of the other three Dominican athletes to receive the invite to compete at Stanford as he set a new personal best in the 400m with a time of 50.49 to place 24th with his teammate 
Worthy Gutierrez right behind him in 25th with a time of 51.50. 
Omari Davis was the final athlete competing in Palo Alto as he finished seventh in the men's long jump collegiate section with a mark of 6.87m to top athletes from Portland State, Boise State and Seattle.
Over at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, 
Courtney Santos set a new program and personal record in the 10,000m crossing the finish line in 39:05.62, an improvement of 33 seconds from her previous Penguin record. Also competing in the distance category was 
Sienna Fassett who set a personal record in the 2-mile race with a time of 13:18.02 to surpass Breanna Herrera for second all-time in Dominican history.
LaNicia Ellis claimed a top-10 finish for the Penguins in the 400m as she placed fifth with a time of 59.06. Ellis and Santos teamed with 
Bella Bueno and 
Sarah Chavez in the distance medley relay as the group shattered the previous school record with a time of 12:53.91 as he finished ninth at the event.
On the men's side, 
Diego Montag set a Dominican record in the 800m as he crossed the finish line in 1:56.95 to surpass 
Stefan Mueller's previous program best time by one second. 
Lisandro Guzman set a personal best in the 100m dash with a time of 11:34 to place 17th at the meet. Daniel Salmeron Romo also set a personal and Penguin record in the 2-mile race taking 26th with a time of 11:07.36.
Dominican will compete in several events in two weeks with some at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Long Beach Invite in Southern California, while other athletes compete locally at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Johnny Mathis Invite. The Mt. Sac Relays will start first on Wednesday, April 16 with all meets set to conclude events on Saturday, April 19.
