FRESNO, Calif. –
LaNicia Ellis set a pair of new program records and
Adrian Aguirre continued to his dominant run at the 110m hurdles to lead Dominican track and field at the 2025 West Coast Relays at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Ellis has held the program records in the 200 and 400 since the inaugural season for the program three years ago and she continues to lead the team in the events. On Saturday, Ellis continued that run as she edged out Tianna Ruskovich of UC Davis by .03 seconds with a new personal best and school record of 25.66 seconds in the 200m. That was not the only record to fall to Ellis as she took 18th in the 400m with a new program and personal record of 58.56 seconds.
Adrian Aguirre continued to rack up the wins in the 110m hurdles as he topped the field with a time of 14.06 seconds to top Fresno State's Noel Felix on his home track. Jeroam Wood-Pina also set a personal best on the men's side as he sent his first throw in javelin 40.33m to take 18th while topping athletes from Stanislaus State and Jessup. Wood-Pina also set a new personal record in the 800m as he crossed the finish line in 2:08.77 to finish 49th overall.
Omari Davis did not set a personal best but claimed a top-five finish in the long jump as his second attempt went 7.01m to finish third overall and second among NCAA Division II competitors.
Back on the women's side,
Caytlin Capulong led all Penguins in the 100m as she set a new personal best with a time of 12.94 seconds to take 23rd. Sienna Fasset leapt 2.72m in the pole vault to new PR and school record in pole vault with a leap of 2.72m to tie for 10th. Fassett also set a new personal best in the 1500m with a time of 5:37.42. The women's 4x100 relay team of Capulong, Ellis,
Vivian Rodrigues and
Tatyana Robles placed ninth with a time of 50.37 to top the team from Jessup.
Dominican will compete next at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic beginning Thursday with some athletes receiving invites to compete at the Stanford Invitational beginning Friday.
