Bennett, Wright highlight plethora of results from weekend meets

Berkeley, CALIF. -- Dominican University of California track and field sent athletes to two destinations over the weekend, seeing results at the Chabot Classic in Hayward and Berkeley, California. 

The Chabot Classic was highlighted by personal growth as a group of athletes all recorded their own best results. Seniors Tanya Bills and Autumn Jordan earned results of 7.63 meters and 7.49 meters, respectively, in the shot put on Friday while sophomore Bella Bueno's distance of 22.31 meters in the javelin placed her seventh in the field of 11 participants. Sophomore Andrew Reinhard saw his shot put travel 9.08 meters to lead four Dominican athletes in the event while placing 14th overall. Junior Agustus Muse finished his portion of the day with a 25.70 distance in the javelin while sophomore Caytlin Capulong became the first ever Dominican female to participate in the pole vault, tallying a height of 2.35 meters. 

Senior Wakilli Bennet's second place finish in the 100 meter dash was the highlight of the weekend for the track and field squad, running a time of 10.41 seconds to earn a provisional mark that helps further solidify his case for a berth in the NCAA Championships later this season. Senior Stefan Mueller finished 14 of 31 in the men's 800 meter event, running a time of 1:59.86 while senior Jacob Potere ended his 5000 meter run with a time of 15:28.54. Junior Jared Wright took his talents to the 1500 meter race, posting a final time of 3:58.22 to earn a seventh place finish in the field of 40 runners while Capulong ended her all-around weekend with a personal best time of 13.49 in the 100 meter dash. Jordan, Capulong and junior Emma Wuelfing all competed in the javelin, finishing in succession with distances of 22.88 meters, 28.10 meters and 29.08 meters, respectively.
