Azusa, CALIF. -- Dominican University of California senior sprinter Wakilli Bennett earned top-5 finishes in both the 100 meter and 200 meter events to highlight the final day of the PacWest Championships.

Bennett placed second among all racers in the 100 meter, an event that featured 16 runners before being narrowed down to eight for the finals on Saturday. Bennett ran a time of 10.42 seconds in the race in addition to running a time of 21.28 seconds in the 200 meter event where he placed fifth. Bennett earned points in both races for the men's track and field team, being awarded eight points and four points, respectively, for his efforts — 12 of the team's 21 total points on the weekend. Junior Jared Wright took his talents from the 10000 meter run to the 5000 meter, also seeing a top finish as the distance runner finished ninth in the field of 24 runners less than 24 hours after competing the 10000 meter event, finishing with a time of 15:02.22. On the women's side, points were earned in both the 4x400 meter relay and 4x100 meter relay events.

On the women's side, senior Autumn Jordan and Cecilia Berardi threw the discus to distances of 23.29 and 19.58 meters, respectively, in their event. The women's 4x400 meter relay raced to a final time of 4:15.10 while earning at ime of 50.61 seconds in the 4x100 meter race.

Bennett had already reached the NCAA provisional mark needed for a heightened chance of admittance into the NCAA Championships while his time of 21.28 seconds is just 0.02 seconds shy of the provisional mark in the 200 meter race. More to come.
