Reigning PacWest Golfer of the Year
Claire Shubin earned the conference's first PacWest Golfer of the Week award for the 2022 season, the conference announced Tuesday.
"It's super exciting to start the season off well, and I'm looking forward to the rest of our season and seeing what else this team can do," Shubin said.
Shubin came into the season with a target on her back as the defending PacWest Golfer of the Year, but her early play has proven that she didn't miss a beat over the offseason. Shubin flashed her power as she led the field in Par 4 and Par 5 scoring going 6-under for the tournament combined on the longest holes. The senior finished with nine birdies over the two-day invitational, topping Regina Parra and Lavinia Romito of Holy Names by seven strokes with a final score of 5 under par.
"Claire is playing fantastic," head coach
Gary Nelson said. "She is such a good person and a true competitor. It has been fun watching her continue to improve and go under par."
