CERES, Calif. – Dominican men's cross country finished third while Mary Jo Gallegos led the women's team finishing in the top-30 Saturday night at the Kim Duyst Cross Country Invitational at River Oaks Golf Course.

Stanislaus State won the men's 8k with 23 points with UC Santa Cruz edging the Penguins for second with 73 points. Dominican finished the race with 77 points.

Jared Wright led the way for the men going stride for stride with the top-2 of Stanislaus State and finishing five seconds after first-place finisher Cristian Alcantar with a time of 24:26.8. Andrew Vasquez, an unattached runner, finished fourth more than 30 seconds behind Wright and the top three.

Jacob Potere was also in a battle with a Warrior runner as he and Adin Dibble were neck-and-neck down the stretch. Dibble stretched across the line .2 seconds ahead of Potere who claimed the seventh place finish with a time of 25:26.0. Stefan Mueller was close behind that duo finishing eighth for the Penguins with a time of 25:36.0. Jose Lain Straus was the next runner to cross the finish line for Dominican finishing 44th with a time of 31:56.4. Cisco Gonzalez finished 45th with a time of 32:08.0 and Connor Efstathiu rounded out the team in 46th with a time of 32:48.3.

In the women's race, Dominican did not qualify for team points with only three runners but Gallegos led the way as she took 29th with a time of 26:56.6 to beat out Vivianna Gardea of William Jessup by nearly a minute. Sienna Fassett and Sophia Zertuche ran as a pair for much of the 6k with Fassett finishing 31st in a time of 28:22.9 and Zertuche in 32nd with a time of 28:53.3.
