IRVINE, Calif.- Dominican men's and women's cross country teams headed down south for the PacWest Conference Championships Saturday morning. The Great Park in Irvine hosted the event with the men's racing at 9 a.m. followed by the women's one hour later.
Freshman
Diego Montag racing in his first conference championships led Dominican with 261 points and a finishing time of 26:00.0. Montag has been a bright spot for the Penguins this fall and now will look to train for the track and field season. Jeroam Wood-Pina was second on the team coming in at 29:18.4 while fellow teammate
Javier Machado was right behind him with a time of 30:05.0. Dominican men's team finished the championships placing 8
th.
On the women's side, graduate student
Miranda Lam paced the Penguins with 347 points finishing the race with a time of 25:29.6. Junior
Sarah Chavez was right behind Lam with a time of 25:43.6 while fellow junior
Sienna Fassett rounded out the top three for the lady Pengs.
