SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Dominican women's golf finished tied for second at the SSU Spring Women's Invite at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club in the final tournament prior to the beginning of postseason.
Cal State East Bay won the team title after shooting a 21 over par in the 36-hole tournament. Dominican had its second lowest round in program history in the first round with a 9-over 297, narrowly missing the 293 they recorded at the 2015 Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate. The Penguins finished tied with Holy Names at 31 over par at the conclusion of the second round.
Lauren Parayno finished the final 18-holes on fire as she followed up five consecutive pars with birdies on 17 and 18 to finish the day at 4 over par and tied for 10th at 7 over for the tournament.
Claire Shubin started slow but a birdie on 16 lifted the team back into a tie with Holy Names and she added a pair of pars to close out her round. Shubin finished in a tie for 7th at 6 over par with a pair of golfers from CSUEB.
Angelica Antonio finished the day at 5 over par as she entered the clubhouse with a birdie on 18 that lifted her into a tie for 10th with Parayno.
Phoebe Sundberg had a strong front nine for Dominican as she shot par on eight holes on her way to a tie for 26th at 14 over par.
Alissa Salazar wrapped up the active team for the Penguins as she finished in a tie for 31st at 16 over par, while
Kelsey Bas finished in 42nd at 31 over par competing as an individual.
Dominican will head next to the PacWest Golf Championships beginning Monday, April 18 at Wigwam Golf Resort in Goodyear, Arizona.
