SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – In the team's final home match of the 2017 spring season, Dominican University of California women's tennis topped Stanislaus State 6-3 on Saturday.
The result marks the Penguins' 10th win of the season. Dominican will take on Stanislaus again on Saturday, April 15 for the regular season finale in Turlock.
On Saturday, the Penguins captured wins in two of the doubles matchups, including an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 spot when Brooke Briseno and
Skyler Schaar defeated Jaella Conway and Cassidy Ferrell.
Despite Dominican falling in the top two singles spots, the rest of the lineup helped the Penguins secure the 6-3 victory.
At the No. 5 position,
Solveig Karlsen cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of her opponent.
Alex Wartenberg's win at No. 4 was much closer as she managed to pull out a thrilling victory, 7-5, 3-6, 10-5.
Dominican will return to action on Friday with a 1 p.m. road match at Sonoma State.
