WAIPAHU, Hawaii — The Dominican University of California women's tennis team wrapped up its four-match trip to the fiftieth state with an 8-1 victory over Chaminade on Tuesday.
Rickimae Torres, who sat out the Penguins' match the day before due to injury, slid to No. 3 doubles with
Mackenzie Flanagan, where the duo picked up an 8-0 win. Torres, the nation's No. 36-ranked player, cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Melanie Schumilas for her fifth win of the season.
Kelly Zwicker and
Chloe Vicari picked up an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, taking the match 8-6. Vicari was involved in another close match at No. 3 doubles, where she pulled away late, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.
Gianna Cupo and
Solveig Karlsen teamed up at No. 1 doubles and came away with an 8-3 victory. Karlsen swept her No. 5 singles match and Flanagan did the same at No. 6 singles.
The Penguins return home to host Holy Names on Saturday, March 21. First serve is slated for 11:30 a.m.
