MONMOUTH, Ore. — The Dominican University of California women's cross country team concluded its season on Nov. 7 in the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championship at Ash Creek Preserve on the campus of Western Oregon University.
The Penguins placed 27th out of 28 teams in the 6k with a total time of 2:05:34.52 and an average 25:06.91. Dominican finished ahead of PacWest opponent UH Hilo (2:10:43.01, 26:08.61). Regionally top-ranked Chico State placed three runners in the Top 25 to win the women's team title with a total time of 1:48:21.76 for an average of 21:40.36. Individually, GNAC champion Joyce Chelimo of Alaska Anchorage led all 192 runners with a time of 20:42.34.
The Penguins were led by junior
Julianna Mendez, who finished in 86th place with a time of 22:53.96. Freshman
Sami Koss finished in 134th place with a time of 23:44.59. Sophomore
Michelle Miranda posted a PR with her time of 25:39.34 (173rd). Sophomore
Janine Villanueva finished three spots behind with a time of 26:18.54. Freshmen
Gabi Foyle (26:58.09),
Oriana Cortes (27:04.53), and
Karina Duarte (27:17.69) finished 188 through 190, respectively.
DAVIS, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's cross country team wrapped up its season at the Doc Adams Open hosted by UC Davis.
Sophomore
Anthony Sassano led the Penguins in 34th place with a season best of 28:45 in the 8k. Junior
Chris Suen ran a time of 30:09, good for 37th place. Fresmen
Brandon Barich (33:19) and
Pavlos Peritos (33:26) finished 42nd and 43 place and senior
Patrick Davis finished in 45th place (34:07).
