SAN FRANCISCO — The Dominican University of California cross country teams got their final work in on Friday afternoon at the SF State Invitational in Golden Gate Park before the upcoming PacWest Championships.
The men's team finished 20 out 20 teams while the women held back their top three women. On the men's side, Chico State took the overall team title with a time of 2:0435:60. Chico State also boasted both individual champions: William Reyes won on the men's side with an 8k time of 24:35.2. Junior Sadie Gastelum was the top female with a 6k time of 21:39.3.
Dominican's top runner,
Anthony Sassano, was forced to pull out before the race due to illness. Junior
Chris Suen led the Dominican men with a PR time of 30:28.9, in 213th place out of 241.
Patrick Davis finished in 229th with a time of 33:34.7. The next three Dominican finishers were a trio of freshman:
Brandon Barich (35:10.1, 233rd),
Pavlos Peritos (35:25.1, 235th), and
Reece Dominguez (41:10.3, 240th).
Sierra Najolia ran a time of 29:12.7, in 207th out of 233 runners. Sophomore
Franki Crites, in her first meet back since injury, placed 219th with a time of 30:27.3. Senior
Aimee Carrazco placed 224th with a time of 31:34.4. Dominican's top female runners were held out ahead of the conference championships, hosted by California Baptist in Riverside, California, on Saturday, Oct. 24.
