SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to NCAA Division I Southern Utah University on Sunday afternoon.

Dominican looked strong early and notched victories in both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles play. Irina Morozova and Emily Prescott earned the No. 1 doubles win, 8-5, over Alex Ivanova and Veronika Rogova. Caitlin Aloia and Chole Vicari defated Madeline Skaras and NAstia Vasileva, also by the score of 8-5, in No. 2 doubles action.

Morozova also earned a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. Francesca Katafias was the only other Penguin to earn a singles victory, taking the No. 6 matchup 6-4, 6-1 over Sarah Lundin.

The Penguins host Notre Dame de Namur on Monday, March 10 at 12:00 p.m.
