Lauren Gollnick's first collegiate goal will be one that she remembers for a long time. Eighty one minutes into Tuesday's match vs. Holy Names University, the freshman took her only shot on goal and made it count as the Dominican University of California women's soccer team rode her goal to a 1-0 victory over host Holy Names University.
With the victory, Dominican climbs back to the .500 mark at 3-3 overall and moves to 2-1 in Pacific West Conference action. With the loss, HNU slips to 1-7 and 0-5 in the PacWest.
After 80 scoreless minutes, Gollnick, who entered the game tied 29th in the nation in assists, launched a shot from about 35 yards out and curved one past HNU goalie Jenni Dooley.
"Holy Names did some things early and it took us some time to figure out," said Director of Soccer Jon Delano. "We put ourselves in a good position to win the game by pressuring and taking shots and eventually we got what we needed from Lauren."
Senior
Alex Moran fired a pair of shot on goals and co-captain

"I can't even describe the feeling right now," said Gollnick. "But the important thing is that it's another win under our belt and it gives us that much more confidence going into Thursday's game."
