SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California fell 8-1 to visiting Academy of Art University at Forest Meadows Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman duo Irina Morozova and Shannon McCarthy-Contreras dropped a close 8-6 decision to Kunkanda "Cartoon" Phukchampa and Laone "Lala" Botshoma in the number one doubles match. Junior Jamie Fernandez and senior Tami Tan fell 8-1 in the number two slot to Diane Phan and Amal Ben El Hadj.
Seniors Michele Freitas and Anh Truong were bested by 8-4 in the number three doubles match by Maria "Belen" Tenorio and Cecilia Hedin.

Truong needed a third set to get past Paola Correa Fe and earn Dominican's only decision of the day, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

With the loss, Dominican falls to 5-10 while AAU improves to 10-3.

The Lady Penguins will next travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to compete in the Pacific West Conference Tennis Championships from Thursday to Saturday, April 14 to 16.
