Los Angeles — The Dominican University of California women's tennis team struggled on Saturday, falling 9-0 to Cal State LA, the No. 22 nationally-ranked team in the ITA NCAA Division II poll.

A day after winning her first-ever match in the season opener, freshman Irina Morozova fell to the Golden Eagle's number one player sophomore Christie Lau 6-3, 6-1.

Senior Michele Freitas and junior Ryan Paulus both played tough in their second sets but each fell 6-4, unable to force a third freame.

Paulus and senior Anh Truong had a strong showing in the number three doubles match but eventually fell 8-4 to senior Linda Majzikova and junior Linda Librando.

The Lady Penguins return home to San Rafael on Thursday, Feb. 10 with a 2:00 p.m. exhibition against Reedley College. On Saturday, Feb. 12 they will face NCAA Division III Mills College at 10:00 a.m.
